About Khyren:
Khyren (he/him) is in his second year at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Before joining Cira Center, he obtained his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Duquesne University and became a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Khyren is passionate about creating spaces where you can share your story in ways that feel authentic and genuine, without fear of judgment. He approaches therapy as a fellow traveler and recognizes that clients are the experts of their own lives. Khyren aims to support individuals in exploring their stories, recognizing their strengths, and achieving their goals.
He believes in an eclectic therapeutic framework that adapts to the needs, values, and goals of individuals seeking support. With Khyren, individuals can expect a blend of Strength-Based Approaches, Humanistic and Multicultural values, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. Altogether, he helps clients cultivate motivation and meaning, feel empowered, validated, and engaged in a space that encourages authenticity and self-compassion.
Outside of sessions, you can find Khyren listening to all types of music, watching the latest superhero movie, solving some sort of puzzle, or looking for the closest diner to order pancakes.
